Curd Rice / Daddojanam

Posting on public demand, curd rice.. how we all love this simple yet delicious rice and curd preparation.

Packed with the soothing taste of curd in soft cooked rice topped with crunchy fried cashew nuts tadka and fresh coriander.. curd rice makes for perfect stress buster after a busy day at work.

Makes for a delicious dish using left over rice.

Ingredients (Serves 2)
Boiled rice (4 cups)
2 cups Curd
1 cup Milk (1/4 cup for 1 cup of boiled rice)
2 tsp Chana dal
2 tsp Udat dal
1 tsp small mustard seeds
1/2 cashew nuts
3-4 methi seeds
1 green chilli finely chopped
8 curry leaves (Optional)
Salt to taste
Take as much fresh coriander leaves as you like
2 tsp oil


Use your hands and gently spread the rice in a bowl.
Pour curd and milk. Add salt and mix well. Sprinkle finely chopped coriander and mix. Set aside.

Heat oil in a small kadhai. Add methi seeds, when they turn brown, add chana dal, udat dal and cashew nuts, when they turn brown, quickly add mustard seeds and green chilli

. When seeds start to splutter, add curry leaves. Turn off the flame and pour the tadka on curd rice. Mix well.

Curd rice is ready to eat!!
