Ingredients
10 Jacket potatoes peeled
2 medium sized potatoes peeled and cut into 4 halves each
1 tsp chat masala
1/2 tsp sea salt(crushed)
1 1/2 cup curd
4 green chillies finely chopped
2 onions finely chopped
2 tomatoes pureed
1 levelled tsp roasted mustard powder
[Dry roast mustard seeds and coarsely grind in a mortar]
1/2 tsp ginger paste
1 levelled tsp jeera powder
1/2 tsp Saunf
1 tbsp oil
Pinch of haldi
Salt to taste
Marinade potatoes in mixture of curd,chat masala and some salt for 30 mins.
Add oil in hot pan.
Add jeera,saunf and mustard powder and fry.
Add ginger paste, fry.
Pick just the marinated potatoes from marinade mixture, add to the pan and fry for 5 minutes on high flame.
Stir and fry for another 5 minutes so that they get fried on all sides.
Empty the contents of the pan into a bowl.
In the same pan, add little oil and fry onions, green chillies till onion turns brown.
Add tomato puree, simmer the flame and let it cook for 5 minutes (till oil separates from gravy)
Add remaining curd from marinade, pinch of haldi and sea salt, mix well. Let it cook for 5 minutes (till fat separates)
Add fried potatoes to the pan.
Cover the pan with lid and let it cook for 5 minutes on low flame.
Chatpata Alu curry is ready!
